Written by Propeller Investments
At the request of the Gwinnett County Citizens Committee, Kinton Aviation Consulting, a leading consulting firm to the aviation industry, was asked a series of questions in order to assist the committee in its efforts to determine long term development options for Gwinnett County Airport - Briscoe Field. The report by Kinton identified several key factors that point to success should the redevelopment and subsequent addition of passenger service be permitted at the County airport, including: gate constraints at Hartsfield International; potential ease of use and navigation of a smaller facility, convenience and increased competition in the Atlanta market providing travelers with more options.
No One is Above the Law
Written by Commissioner Tim Echols
I squeezed into the front row of the Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C., two weeks ago for the oral arguments of the Yucca Mountain case. What I heard coming from the government lawyers, however, confirmed that federal agencies have become way too powerful for their own good. And that unchecked power is doing untold damage in Georgia and other states.

Groups: `Boondoggle` Vogtle Reactor Project $1 Billion Over Budget
Written by Georgia WAND
Even though the Vogtle reactor project got its federal license just three months ago, the controversial nuclear reactors are already in trouble. The latest problem: A cost overrun of nearly $1 billion in 2011 dollars, according to groups, including Georgia Women's Action for New Directions, that warned in February that the Vogtle expansion effort is a boondoggle that could hurt ratepayers and (depending on the status of a pending Solyndra-style federal loan guarantee) U.S. taxpayers. Results Prove Charter Schools' Effectiveness
Written by Jay P. Greene
According to the Global Report Card, more than a third of the 30 school districts with the highest math achievement in the United States are actually charter schools. This is particularly impressive considering that charters constitute about 5 percent of all schools and about 3 percent of all public school students. And it is even more amazing considering that some of the highest performing charter schools, like Roxbury Prep in Boston or KIPP Infinity in New York City, serve very disadvantaged students.
