Beware Where Policy-makers Go With Transit
Submitted by Benita M. Dodd
The drumbeat for more public transportation by planners and policy-makers rises in inverse proportion to the public's enthusiasm. The reality of the steady decline in Americans' use of public transportation fades into the background, overwhelmed by transit-oriented hype.

Submitted by Randy DeCarlo
Last Tuesday the Gwinnett Animal Advisory Council held it's quarterly meeting at the shelter. Since there was no attempt to notify thie public of this important meeting only two members from the community showed up. What follows are my comments on what was discussed and more importantly the lost opportunity of not discussing the current situation of disarray at the shelter.

All Dressed Up, With No Tea Party to Go To: Primary 2010 Wrap-up
Submitted by Bob Griggs
If there is a "Tea Party" passion to toss out incumbents, it sure didn't manifest itself in the recently-contested Georgia primaries. Of the eleven federal incumbents of both parties, only Hank Johnson, John Barrow and David Scott (all Democrats) had challengers. (I am not counting Tom Graves, R-9th, who won a special election just a month ago... half a football team of Republicans came out for this essentially open seat.)

Submitted by Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta
Saint Joseph's Hospital of Atlanta is proud to announce the Joint Commission has designated its Heart Failure Center a Certified Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) program, making it one of only two hospitals in Georgia authorized to perform destination surgeries. This Joint Commission certification allows Saint Joseph's cardiologists to implant VADs in heart failure patients who do not qualify for a donor heart and would otherwise die from heart failure complications. The announcement comes just after Former Vice President Dick Cheney elected to undergo this type of surgery for a destination left-ventricular assist device (LVAD).

It`s Time to Listen to Health Care Consumers
Submitted by Ronald E. Bachman
The great frustration for many Americans during the debate on ObamaCare was tone-deaf politicians. No one seemed willing to listen to their concerns. Federal deficits, pork-barrel spending and cost got lost in the push to pass partisan legislation. Moving into the regulatory phase of writing the critical implementation rules, the concern is that bureaucrats will also ignore the people.
